Finding Datasets

The Explore page lets you browse all public datasets on Noktura. You can search by keyword and filter by crop type, soil color, growth stage, and more.

Use the search bar at the top to find datasets by keyword. The search looks through:

  • Dataset name – The title given by the creator
  • Description – Details about the dataset
  • Location – Region and country
  • Weed species – Scientific and common names

Tip

Try searching for specific weeds like “wild radish” or “ryegrass”, or locations like “Western Australia”.

Using Filters

The filter sidebar (on desktop) or filter button (on mobile) lets you narrow down results. Each filter shows the number of matching datasets in parentheses.

Crop Type

Filter by the crop present in the images:

  • Wheat, Barley, Oats, Canola
  • Corn, Soybean, Rice
  • Cotton, Sunflower, Sugar beet
  • And more...

Soil Color

Filter by the soil appearance in images:

  • Black, Dark Brown, Brown
  • Light Brown, Red, Grey
  • Sandy, White, Other

BBCH Growth Stage

Filter by plant growth stage using the BBCH scale (0-99). Enter a minimum and/or maximum value to find datasets within a specific growth range.

  • 0-9 – Germination/emergence
  • 10-19 – Leaf development
  • 20-29 – Tillering
  • 30-39 – Stem elongation
  • 60-69 – Flowering

See the Metadata Reference for the complete BBCH scale.

Understanding Results

Each dataset card shows key information at a glance:

  • Thumbnail – Preview image from the dataset
  • Name – Dataset title
  • Image count – Number of images in the dataset
  • Crop type – The crop in the images
  • Capture date – When images were taken
  • Region – Geographic location
  • Owner – Who created the dataset

Click on a dataset card to view full details including all metadata, images, license information, and download options.

Batch Downloads

You can select multiple datasets and download them all at once:

1

Select datasets

Click the checkbox on each dataset card you want to download. A counter shows how many datasets and images you've selected.

2

Click Download Selected

The download button appears when you have datasets selected. Click it to start creating your download.

3

Wait for processing

Large downloads are processed in the background. You'll be notified when your ZIP file is ready. See Downloading Data for more details.

Note

You must be signed in to download datasets. Anonymous browsing is allowed, but downloading requires a free account.

Clearing Filters

Active filters appear as badges below the search bar. Click the X on any badge to remove that filter. Click Clear all to reset all filters and return to the full dataset list.

Tips for Finding Data

  • Start broad, then narrow down – Begin without filters to see what's available, then add filters to focus your search.

  • Check the image count – Larger datasets are often more useful for training machine learning models.

  • Look at capture dates – Recent datasets may have better image quality from newer cameras.

  • Consider the license – CC BY allows commercial use, CC BY-NC is for non-commercial only.

  • Check species information – Datasets with labeled weed species are more valuable for supervised learning.
